Sarah joined Aspect Law in the latter part of 2018, adding her considerable expertise in the field of Regulatory Law and Private Crime to Aspect Law’s existing service offering to businesses and their owners.

She is the firm’s health and safety and trading standards law expert, having represented a number of multi million pound manufacturers in advising and defending health and safety investigations following explosion and fatal accidents.  Sarah has successfully defended Environmental Agency and HSE prosecutions and regularly advises on all aspects of trading standards issues.

Company insolvency and director disqualifications tend to flow from criminal prosecution and Sarah’s expertise extends to defending such cases.  Her regulatory law experience has involved her in advising on fraudulent trading and tracing of worldwide offshore assets.  Sarah’s advisory role (in a reported case in dealing with Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Dudley CC, HHJ Mithani QC 15 February 2010) involved both company and director convicted of trades description offences in a multi-million pound business successfully negotiating undertakings allowing the director to continue to trade.

The Private Crime element of Sarah’s work has seen her dealing with alleged VAT fraud matters such as ‘Carousel Fraud’.  One case of which involved the supply of computers and mobile telephones being supplied into the UK from EU countries, the company vanishing having not accounted for the VAT liability.  Sarah has represented clients in respect of Confiscation Orders pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act 1988and money laundering issues of all kinds.

In addition to Sarah’s impressive list of skills is her experience in defending HMRC investigations.

In her spare time Sarah runs to keep fit having recently completed a marathon and loves to socialise with her friends and family.
